While conducting research about 19th-century female hysteria, I created a fixation on the severity in which women have been exploited: in experiments, during hypnosis, and through art and photography. Realizing I’m unable to tell these women’s stories, I started investing my time in the photographic methodology in which medical photographers have portrayed these women. Putting myself in the same position, photographing men as scientific objects, I want to create the illusion of a diagnosis that the viewer won’t be able to identify.  Guiding the viewer through the publication with hints of defects and treatments,  I want to enhance the absurdity of othering. It is a tradition we have practiced since the beginning of time, where we try to mold others in a more normal version of themselves,
for ourselves.
