About

As a research-based artist, my work explores themes of gender, power and history. Looking at female representation in visual culture and history, I challenge patriarchal narratives around themes such as menstruation, hysteria, witches, menopause, and the politics of the body. I investigate feminist ideas through topics like medical history, psychology, intimacy, and the natural world. Overall, I aim to create an ongoing dialogue about how identities and experiences are constructed, represented, and remembered in cultural narratives.

I work with photography, painting, performance, poetry, textiles, and archival research, blending reflective and intuitive methods. I use photography to create an interplay between vulnerability and resilience, where I combine strong textures and dark colors with clinical elements. My images often involve strong body language, symbolic meaning, and heavy contrast.

Empathy is central to my creative process, guiding my exploration of personal and collective histories.  Using a multifaceted research approach, I engage with academic, literary, and visual sources alongside conversations, observations, and personal experiences. This approach helps me to weave together knowledge and emotion, analyzing how the personal intersects with the political.

Currently, I am graduating with a BA in Photography from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.

I am always open to possible collaborations, commissions, and conversations
